The Way Station is a key restoration project in Greenville, CA, reviving a historic brick building lost in the 2021 Dixie Fire. Positioned at the town’s central intersection, the building serves as both a local and tourist anchor.
The design preserves the structure’s historic character while introducing contemporary elements that reflect resilience and renewal. The program includes a bar and restaurant, a basement speakeasy, and a sunroom for outdoor seating. A central hearth and long communal bar foster warmth and gathering, while upper-level apartments and a private deck create a balance of public and private spaces.
